E-book Access Programs During Coronavirus Pandemic
In addition to our existing e-book collections, many e-book vendors are opening up their collections to help students access textbooks and required readings during this challenging period. Check out the services below for access to large e-book collections.
Through the RedShelf Responds initiative, Redshelf is providing students from non-profit, semester-based colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada no-cost access to digital textbooks for the rest of the semester. Each student may access up to seven free eBooks, and access will run through May 25th, 2020.
VitalSource Helps supports students at semester-calendar schools who may have lost access to course materials due to their campus moving online to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Students and instructors in the U.S. and Canada can now access, at no charge, an expansive catalog of etexts, through May 25, 2020 in the US and April 30, 2020 in Canada.
To help students, researchers, and all readers around across the country, the Internet Archive is opening up access to its e-books to the public through the National Emergency Library. In order to borrow an e-book, you will have to register for a free account to obtain a virtual library card.
